Nathan Blackburn
R.Kin, CSCS, SFMA, TPI FP 2, FMS

After graduating from the University of Ottawa with a B.Sc. (H) in Human Kinetics in 2008, Nathan has been practicing as a Registered Kinesiologist in both the clinical and fitness facility settings.  Over that time, he has had extensive experience in helping people suffering from sports injuries, motor vehicle accidents, neuromuscular and cardiac conditions, concussions and acute or chronic physical dysfunction due to everyday wear and tear.  He works closely with physiotherapists, sports medicine Doctors and massage therapists to ensure his clients get the most comprehensive treatment, giving them the best opportunity for success in the rehabilitation process.

Nathan is also certified as a Strength & Conditioning Coach and Golf Fitness Professional with the NSCA and the Titleist Performance Institute respectively.  In addition to injury prevention and rehabilitation, he works with athletes to improve their physical functioning and enhance their performance in sport.

"My passion for rehab and training was ignited after sustaining a debilitating knee injury while snowboarding in high school.  At that point, sports were my life and I thought my days of playing were over.  After a lengthy, successful rehab process I was able to not only return to competitive hockey, but to do so with a level of strength and conditioning that I had not known before the injury.  This left me with an immense appreciation for the help and care I received.  With that came a fascination with human movement and a desire to not only help other people to prevent and recover from injury, but also manage the mental hurdles associated with the rehab process"

Recently, Nathan has taken a particular interest in the positive effect of exercise on mental health.  It is a personal goal of his to use his background in exercise science and prescription to help those suffering from mental health conditions like anxiety, depression and stress.   With the prevalence of such conditions on the rise, he aims to empower people with another tool to help manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life.
